Setting up an Event game in Marker

An event is simply a collection of scorecards.  Marker was designed to keep track of score, leaderboard, and wagers for multi group competitions.  Below we'll walk through the basics of setting up and event.  The basic steps are, create the event (select course and tees), add competitors, create scorecards and finally confgure the games.  Here we'll simply create and event.

From the home screen, tap the “Host Event” button to begin setting up your event. Start by selecting the course where the event will take place.

SelectCourse.png

You will see a list of the courses you have recently played which you can choose from or you can search for another course.

We are going to hold this event at Torrey Pines so we type that in the search bar and select from the returned results.

We are going to play the South course so we tap on the selection and move on.

This is where we can give the event a unique name and select the date the event will be played.  We'll call this one "GoLowFriday".

Tap in the "Event Date" to bring up the calendar and select the day for the event.  In this example we chose April 25, 2025.  Tap "Done".

We have selected our course, named the event and set the date.  Now we tap "Save" and are ready to start adding players.

We have selected our course, named the event and set the date.  Now we tap "Save" and are ready to start organizing the event.  From here we will need to add players, create scorecards and configure the games.

AddPlayerFresh.png

To add players, tap on the "+" button adjacent to the "Players" heading.  There are three ways to add players.  First you can select them from a list of recent playing partners (easiest).  This list gets populated as you create more events.  Since this is our first event, there are no players in the list yet.

AddPlayerSearch.png

We can search for any Marker players by name using the search bar.  We'll add ourself first by typing in "bart" and selecting the result.

AddPlayerSelect.png

We could continue to add players here, for now we'll just click continue and then we'll select the tees for the event.  (Tees can be individually changed on the scorecards if players wish to play from other than the default setting.)

AddPlayerTees.png

We select the tees for the event.  This selection will be the default for any additional players added while configuring the event.  Tap "Save" and the player(s) will be added to the event roster.

AddPlayerFresh.png

We can also "Invite" a player to the game.  Tap the "Invite new player" button.

InvitePlayerPhone.png

Enter the player's phone number, if they are already a Marker user, their information will get populated automatically.

InvitePlayerSave.png

You can see the default tees are preslected so you can just tap "Save" and this user will be added to the event.

AddPlayerDone.png

I have gone through and added a few more users for our example.  Once we have all the users added, we move on to creating the scorecards for the groups.

AddScorecards.png

Tap the "+" buttons adjacent to the "Scorecards" heading.

AddScoreCardsTime.png

Tap the "Start time" button to enter the starting time for the first group and then tap "Done".

AddScorecardOptions.png

There are a few more options to select.  Start hole in case you are not starting on number 1.  Number of groups and group spacing.  Once you have selected them tap "Save".

AddScorecardsCreated.png

Now you'll see entries for each tee time.  Tap each one to add the players to that group.

AddScorecardPlayers2.png

Tap "Save" and do the same for the other groups.

AddScorecardCompleted.png

When finished your screen will show the first names of the players in each group.  Now - on to the best part - adding the games!
